Hustle #004 / Pass & Pivot

Pass & Pivot: eight steps, one build.

A netball brand built through Instagram, Pinterest and free activities. TikTok is still the waiting step; TikTok Shop is not launched.

What we did

01 / Choose one customer

24 September

Netball girls, not generic sportswear.

  • The founder chose netball as the new business. She wanted kit, gifts and activities built around people who love the game.
  • The founder prioritised the netball brand. She moved it ahead of the baby-shower shop.
  • The founder chose the name Pass & Pivot. On 24 September, she picked option three from the agent's name list.
02 / Check the idea and the costs

24-26 September

Plan the range and check fulfilment.

  • The agent researched a netball merch range. The proposed range included hoodies, sweatshirts, tees and small gifts.
  • The agent checked the name and handles. The 25 September report recorded the name available across the checked channels.
  • The agent compared print-on-demand routes. It investigated printing and delivery rather than assuming the social shop could ship stock.
  • The agent corrected the TikTok fulfilment plan. The 26 September check ruled out Printify's US-only TikTok route for this UK shop; Gelato became the planned supplier.
03 / Give it a name and a home

25 September

Set up the brand accounts.

  • The founder created the brand Gmail. At 8:28pm on 25 September, she confirmed [email protected] was set up.
  • The agent designed the profile mark. It supplied a navy-and-coral netball mark and revised the wordmark with the founder.
  • The agent created the Instagram account. @passandpivot was reported live at 8:34pm on 25 September.
  • The agent set up Linktree. The link hub was reported live later on 25 September.
  • The agent created the Pinterest business account. The 26 September report recorded boards for the netball content and free activities.
04 / Make one thing people can buy

25 September to 2 October

Build the free resources first.

  • The agent built the netball activity pack. It used the founder's worksheets as a starting point for bingo, court activities and a maze.
  • The agent prepared the merch designs. The range work included a pale-pink "netball" hoodie concept, not a claim of a working shop.
  • The agent built the 30-page handwriting book. On 2 October, it delivered A-Z tracing and writing, netball words, story starters and a drawing challenge.
  • The agent published the free handwriting-book page. The 2 October page used Pass & Pivot branding and a no-signup download on free Cloudflare Pages hosting.
05 / Put it in front of real people

25-28 September

Connect the resources to the social pages.

  • The agent published the first Instagram post. The free-pack post was reported live on 25 September.
  • The agent published the pack-peek carousel. The 26 September post showed bingo, dress design and a maze.
  • The agent replaced the first download route. It moved the pack away from the assistant-branded page and tested the neutral download on 26 September.
  • The agent prepared Pinterest pins. The dated 26 September reports recorded the boards and first netball pins.
  • The agent prepared grid rows in groups of three. The later Instagram plan put framed activity tiles around a real netball photo.
06 / Learn from the first response

27 September onward

Change the content after the founder's feedback.

  • The founder rejected vague motivational content. She asked for more proper netball drills and diagrams.
  • The agent drafted the drill slides. The next material included Front Cut, Split Re-offer and Lead Land Pivot.
  • The founder required face protection for other children. The agent cropped or blurred other children in the supplied netball photos.
  • The founder approved the face-only blur. Her feedback changed the edit from a broad blur to the face itself.
07 / Hand over one repeatable job

29 September to 2 October

Agent prepares. Founder posts.

  • The agent prepared paste-ready posting kits. Images arrived in grid order with captions and tags because the web composer mangled captions.
  • The founder posted the approved drill row. On 29 September, she confirmed the posts were done.
  • The agent prepared handwriting-book post extracts. On 2 October, it supplied story-starter and "S is for Shoot" posts pointing to the free book.
  • The agent prepared handwriting-book Pinterest copy. It supplied separate titles and descriptions when the blocked Gmail prevented pinning.
08 / Improve it, change it or stop

2 October / the current waiting step

Keep the free route working while the shop waits.

  • The founder asked to use free hosting. The handwriting book stayed on a free subdomain rather than requiring a domain purchase.
  • The agent tested the handwriting-book page. The 2 October report recorded logged-out and mobile download checks.
  • The agent reported the Linktree access block. Google sign-in depended on the blocked brand Gmail, so the book button could not be added through the agent session.
  • The agent supplied the direct bio-link handoff. On 2 October, it gave the founder the Instagram steps to add the book page without waiting for Linktree admin access.
2 October 2026

Today's update

  • The agent published the free 30-page netball handwriting book and prepared the next Instagram extracts.
  • Instagram and Pinterest are part of the build. Awaiting TikTok. TikTok Shop is not launched.
The biggest snag

Biggest learning

  • The blocked brand Gmail held up Linktree admin access and Pinterest sign-in.
  • Instagram's web composer mangled captions, so the agent prepared the files and the founder posted from her phone.
The next test

Next step

  • Restore the brand-account access and finish the TikTok route.
  • Verify the product, price, checkout and fulfilment together before launching the merch offer.
